ABOUT

Ariana Speight is a contemporary dance artist and creator invested in researching the curiosities of life through various mediums. Originally from Los Angeles and currently based in Brooklyn, she has worked with a number of artists including Kayla Farrish, Joanna Kotze, Jordan Demetrius Lloyd, Kyle Marshall, Anna Sperber, and Jessie Young.

Her freelance journey has led her to perform at Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX), Chelsea Factory, Coffey Street, CPR–Center for Performance Research, Dancewave, Lincoln Center Hearst Plaza, New York Live Arts (NYLA), Pageant, Roulette Intermedium, The Shed, The Space at Irondale, The Tank, Webster Hall, among other venues in New York, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

As a maker, she has shared many solos including: endearing indifference, loading... <all systems functioning>, an introduction, morph, the call, Vent & Drain and VENTing. In 2024, she was a CPR AiR, where she presented an OPEN LAB: DIGITAL ARCHIVE and OPEN AiR: cocoon. Her work was in the Performance Mix Festival #39 at Abrons Arts Center and AUNTS Festival at Danspace. She most recently debuted a solo titled PSA at Triskelion Arts for Split Bill #47 in December and presented psa at Judson Church for Movement Research at Judson Church.

Venturing into standup comedy, she was featured in the Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest and Festival of Lavender.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers University - New Brunswick with a BFA in Dance and minor in Africana Studies.
